여인영 작가의 <소금은 짜다> “Salt to tasty”는 소금의 부재와 구멍의 존재에서 시작된다. 구멍의 사적인 조우들은 그녀가 만들어내는 장소와 물건 그리고 대화간의 짝짓기 속에서 발생한다. 타인들에 의해 이야기되고 기의되는 ‘그녀’의 서사와 기표는 정적인 강인함의 상태로 ‘그녀’의 자아를 노출시키며 그 속의 이중성을 뒤집는다. 기호에 따라 소금을 한 꼬집 뿌리면 나의 이야기 속에 녹아들어 하나가 된다. 이 조우들은 다수의 구멍들의 추상적이며 모호하고 때로는 충격적인 성적 경험이다. 그 속에서 삼각관계들이 순환적인 양식과 로맨틱한 차원, 그리고 양자, 삼자, 사자 또는 팔자간의 짝짓기를 형성한다. 소금은 우리 한 사람 한 사람의 취향에맞는 복잡하고 매력적인 맛의 융합을 이뤄내는 데 있어 본질적인 조력자이자 매체의 역할을 한다. 두 점의 영상과 설치 작품으로 구성된 <소금은 짜다> “Salt to tasty”는 이 이야기들을 펴 바르고 빨아들이고 펼쳐 놓으며 주 재료인 소금과 느슨하게 연결시킨다.
Salt to tasty begins with the absence of salt and the presence of a hole. The personal encounters of a hole take place in her sexual pairings of a place, an object and a conversation. Her narrative and her signifier told and signified by others, expose herself in its inanimate state of resilience and flip its duality. Add a pinch of salt to taste and it dissolves into my story as a whole. The encounters are abstract, ambiguous and at times disturbing sexual experiences with multiple holes as triadic relation forms a cyclical pattern, a romantic dimension and pairings of twos, threes, fours and eights. Salt plays the role of the essential supporter and medium in the amalgamation of the complex desirable taste that satisfies each of us to our taste. The two video installation work Salt to tasty spread, suck and lay out the stories loosely connecting them with the main ingredient, salt.
