여인영의 <720도의 미소로>는 “그가 나를 보는 행복의 대상으로서의 나를 보며 나는 즐긴다.” 로 시작해 시각적 관찰을 하고 받고 매개하는 얼굴들의 층위, 즉 표면적 소비적 음미적 관음적 미소가 돌고 도는 시뮬레이션을 전제로 한다. 우리의 디지털 존재성안에서의 순환적 감정노동과 소비 덩어리들의 실제를 질문하고 환영하며 나선형으로 돌고 돌며 열리고 닫힌 질문들을 던진다.
Slip into a 720 degree smile starts with the statement, ‘I enjoy watching me as his object of pleasure.’, with a premise of a simulated reality of observing, being observed and mediating the layers of surfaces from a spiraling movement of slippery, tasty and pleasurable spaces. It questions and illuminates the real-ness of the emotional labor cycle and lumps of desire in an open and closed system.
